Brakes and suspension
Road safety and a settled ride
Responsive brakes and a sound suspension are essential to your safety on the road. If you hear noises or feel vibration, it's time to have these systems checked. Even with no symptoms, a check every 20,000 km is recommended so you can drive with confidence.
Signs to watch for
- Grinding, squealing or clunking when braking or over bumps.
- Vibration in the steering wheel or brake pedal when braking.
- A soft brake pedal, or one that sinks further than usual.
- The vehicle pulls to one side.
- The vehicle keeps bouncing after a bump, or dives forward when braking.
- Uneven tire wear.
A vehicle that pulls or tires that wear unevenly can also point to a wheel alignment problem.
After the winter
The salt and grit spread on our roads speed up corrosion of brake discs and brake lines. A spring inspection is a good habit.
